Thanks a Lot, Molly

Just kidding.  Molly tagged me to complete this meme whereby I have to tell you eight random facts about myself.  Does the fact that I can’t automatically come up with eight facts about myself that you people probably don’t already know mean that I talk too much or that I am boring, or both?  Probably both.

1.  I am an only child who has never wanted siblings.  I have cousins who are like my siblings and that is enough for me.

2. I am terrified of SCUBA diving.  I will never, ever go SCUBA diving.  The mere thought of putting a mask on and being underwater makes me want to hyperventilate.   Even the capital letters scare me.  It’s like they are taunting me: SCUBA.

3. I was hit by a car when I was ten.  I didn’t break anything.

4.  When I was little, I talked so early and so often that my mother said that if she had another child, she would not speak to the child until it was at least two.

5. I was voted Most Likely to Succeed in high school.

6.  I am currently unemployed.

7.  I’ve seen Ryan in concert sixteen times, most recently last night.  Number seventeen will be week after next.

8. I made up an imaginary boyfriend as a joke during my first semester of law school.  He had very distinct, very specific characteristics and his name was Jake.  Six months later, I met my Jake who shares all of Imaginary Jake’s qualities but is much more handsome.

UPDATE:  I didn’t tag anyone, but would encourage (nay, beg) my readers to respond in the comments with, say, at least two interesting facts about themselves.  You know you want to.  Or, you can leave comments with additional, embarrassing facts about me, but if you do that, keep in mind that both my parents and my parents-in-law read this site, you dig?

Emily - Loved the 8 facts. Imaginary/Real Jake is my favorite story ever! Is it really true? Oh, don't tell me - I don't want to know!

2 interesting facts about me that you will appreciate:

1. In the 4th grade, I was known for my ability to make your handsome husband laugh so hard that he would spray milk out his nose.

2. After your wedding at an upscale country club in the deep south, in a moment which I attribute to severe humidity and modest inebriation, I did an immodest sparkler dance and then dove, fully-clothed, into the swimming pool.

Interesting??? :-)

Those are AWESOME, Brent -- thanks for playing along! And yes, the imaginary/real Jake story is absolutely true. Some of my friends who comment on this site remember when Jake was imaginary and were shocked when they later met the real thing!

Very good blog entry Emilie! Ask and you shall receive...here are some random facts about me:

1. I have a doppelganger. For years, strangers would come up to me thinking that I was "Dante". Because we looked so much alike, I sometimes had to show I.D. to prove I wasn't him. About 13 years ago, I was having dinner with friends at Chi Chi's when I saw him (he was employed there). Years later it was confirmed that this was Dante by one of his former co-workers who thought I was him. One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't go up and say anything to him (I was stunned by how much we looked alike that I didn't know what to say/do). Alas, I never saw him again.

2. The 1st CD I ever purchased was greatest hits collection "The Ultimate Box Tops".

3. I was named after the civil rights leader Malcolm X. However, the "X" in my name stands for Xavier.

4. I rang up the purchases of filmmaker Michael Moore on two separate occasions. The 1st time was when I worked at a Waldenbooks store in the mid 1990s and the 2nd time was when I worked at a Borders location a few years ago.

Those are so good, Malcolm! Maybe you will run into your doppelganger again one day.

Not only do I remember Imaginary Jake (I was there at his conception) but we would meet Imaginary Jake out for drinks where he would buy the whole table a round--very generous was one of his necessary qualities if I remember correctly.

Nora and I were the lucky recipients of the 2 am email wherein Emilie let us know that Imaginary Jake had come true. If I could find that email, I would post a [heavily edited] copy.

It's the best story ever.

Remember when you told John all about Imaginary Jake and he played along like he was Real Jake?

I love the Random Facts game. I also love e-mail quizzes.

Here are my two:

1. I own R. Kelly's "Trapped In the Closet" Urban Opera and I really like it -- except the last chapter. It's the only dumb part.

2. I'm scared of fish, dead or alive; goldfish to marlins.

That's how I knew that John was a winner!

I love the Jake story. It will forever be my favorite story about my son and the love of his life!
A fact about Jacob: We also felt that he could just talk and talk without anyone within 50 feet of him.

a wedding fact: I also did the sparkler dance on that very humid Southern night..darn I forgot about the pool in back!
