| What I Have Been Digging Instead of Blogging Here |
| The Complete Sherlock Holmes (A quarter of the way through the first volume, so good). www.bloglines.com (Awesome, I can’t believe I only started using this now. You can read all your usual blogs in about 1/4 of the time.)moleskine notebooks (I don’t know what it is about these, but they’re very fun to write in. In fact, this list is in my little moleskine cahier I’ve been carrying around.) www.popurls.com (All important news, all on one page.)House, M.D. (How good is Hugh Laurie? Phenomenal. He’s carrying this show, and doing it so well. Plus, Massive Attack’s "Teardrop" as a theme? Excellent. And this show is going to be so good in syndication.)The Sopranos (Slower than many seasons, but it is definitely building to something big. Best drama on TV. Also, "One of These Days (I’m Going to Cut You In To Little Pieces)" by the Floyd over the end credits — perfect.) Big Love (This gets better each week — seriously, catch up if you have HBO so we can talk about it. They’re showing it constantly.)Iron Maiden (Seriously, for a while there, it was like I was an angry, lonely English kid from Birmingham that read too much H.P. Lovecraft or something. Amazingly their newest albums are as good as the old—quite different from most 20+ year old metal bands, ahem, Metallica. They’re Spinal Tapesque, of course, but there’s some good stuff here! Don’t believe me? Listen to a live version of "Fear of the Dark" or "Can I Play With Madness?" off of Seventh Son of a Seventh Son). emusic (Totally digging this. I’m getting 65 songs a month for $14.99. Last month I grabbed Drive By Truckers, Deadboy & Elephantmen, Neutral Milk Hotel, Dr. Dog, Okkervill River, Scratcher (a guy I work with’s band), The Clientele, and the Black Angels). |
